tea time

I am a tea person. I like drinking green and black tea regularly. After I burned my teakettle a couple weeks ago, I had to replace it immediately. Of course, I went to T.J.Maxx and Marshalls first. No surprize, I found one. T.J.Maxx and Marshalls had the same teakettle, I happened to be at T.J.Maxx when I decided to get it. I love this bright red enamel-on-steel Chantal teakettle. The wistle is not loud enough for me but, the overall shape and color just makes me smile.

The shape and color influenced my decision since it resembles my Japanese tetsubin teakettles. Here they are... I also purchased them at T.J.Maxx (small), and Home Goods (large).

The tea theme is continued with Artistic kitchen towels; also from Marshalls. They are whimsical and gorgeous!

Check out the blue interior, nice touch!

I purchased a Tovolo Tea Infuser at T.J.Maxx for brewing loose leaf tea, which works great.

The ginger jars and brass Ganesh were purchased at T.J.Maxx too. I know, I am a little addicted to T.J.Maxx, Marshalls and Home Goods :) The mug is from Pier One.

All this tea talk made me thirsty... Tea anyone?

my dog's birthday and a wishlist for him

My puppy is ONE year old today. Happy Birthday Chance !!! We love you silly thing....

I have been wanting "These Creatures" temple standing dog feeder for my dog awhile...

When I saw the temple standing dog feeder on Nate Berkus show for the first time, I fell in love. I thought the coral color with asian style metal structure feeder would look really good with my red Chinese cabinet in the kitchen. Don't you think? :)

I just looked at their website and this Large model is not available, I hope it will come back soon...

wood walls, a new trend?

UPDATE: It has bee a long time since I posted this, unfortunately most of the photo links have been broken, therefore I had to replace some of the photos and comments... 2/4/2015

I was browsing through Elle Decor last weekend and came across Actress Hilary Swank's new Downtown New York apartment. Her apartment had a spread in the magazine’s December issue, designed by restaurant interior designer Mark Zeff. I loved the wood panelled wall in the livingroom a lot. These kind of wood walls popping up in magazines on the internet these days. Is this a new trend? I don't know, but, this is not grandmother's old panels in the basement. It is fresh, neutral, modern yet rustic. When used as an accent wall it anchors the room well. I really like the accent wood wall idea so much, I am planning to put it on my husband's to do list for one of the walls in my livingroom.

I am literally in love with the wall...

Here is the rest of the apartment which has more modern, clean lines;

It looks like the designer Mark Zeff carried out the wood panelling idea in the bathroom with the stone.

A wood accent wall gives a room a modern look. Here are some of the accent wood walls that I like;

What do you think about using wood as an accent wall; Is it dated or a new trend?
