Last weekend I found this gorgeous sink at Home Goods. It is reclaimed wood from an old Indonesian house. I love how the hammered metal insert becomes part of the wood. Now, I have been debating whether to use this unusual sink or go with my white round porcelain sink. My problem starts with this shiny metal piece. Does it go with the bronze accessories? On the other hand, I have a round white porcelain sink that matches the round light fixtures, mirror, shaving mirror and the cabinet hardware. The white also matches my cast iron tub and white walls. What do you think, which one should I use?
The wood sink also matches with some of the natural wood decor accessories that I am using in the bathroom; Chinese screen, buddha panel, reclaimed wood mirror, teak wood spa mat and a wood box for orchids.
So, here are the two sinks staged to compare. Which one should I pick; Wood or porcelain?
For real you cannot use that wood sink in your bathroom for practical reasons both sanitary (wood crevices are hard to clean) and longevity (likely to rot sooner due to high humidity). It is highly decorative so best used in, say, a covered patio for simple hand washing occasionally.

ReplyDeleteI haven't popped buy for ages - I don't know why I've been away so long! You've reinspired me to hunt a Chinese screen for my bathroom though - I've started on ebay but don't really know where else to look! Will keep hunting...

DeleteI missed hearing from you! :) I know the wood sink is not so functional but, I love the look. The price was good too! I don't know how long it would last but, I am leaning towards it since my husband told me he could change it anytime :) Ebay is my best source for Chinese items. I was so lucky that some of the ebay sellers had warehouses relatively nearby. I ended up travelling a few hours to get there but it was a worthwhile trip. Unfortunately, most of them went out of business. I wish I could help you. If I see any good deals I will let you know. Thank you for dropping by and leaving your lovely comments! DeleteUnfortunately, I did not use the wood sink. As soon as I decided not to use it I returned it to the store and it was gone when I checked last time.
